The NEBOSH International General Certificate (IG) is a globally recognized qualification in occupational health and safety. The 2020 syllabus update made the course more practical and relevant to modern workplace challenges. It consists of two units:
- Unit IG1: Management of Health and Safety
- Foundations of health and safety
- Health and safety management systems (Plan, Do, Check, Act)
- Risk assessment and control measures
- Monitoring and reviewing performance
- Unit IG2: Risk Assessment
- Practical application of risk assessment in a workplace setting
The assessment includes an open book examination for IG1 and a practical risk assessment for IG2.
